I have a recurring love affair with turmeric. I can’t get over its rich golden colour or its powerful scent. I use turmeric as a skin ingredient more than I use it as a cooking spice. It has a long list of skin benefits including; anti-septic, anti-aging, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. I’ve been experiencing dry, rashy skin lately and I know my period is partly to blame.
This turmeric and coconut oil facemask not only exfoliated my skin, but also eliminated my rashes completely. I’m so blown away by how simple it was to prepare this face mask and the beauty power it has.
To prepare your own turmeric+ coconut oil facemask, you will need
-1 tbsp. Turmeric powder
-2 tbsp. coconut oil
Mix the two ingredients in a bowl and stir until uniform. Wash your face with warm water to get rid of any dust or makeup. Pat dry using a towel. Use a piece of cotton wool to apply the mask onto your face. Turmeric feels rough on the skin so don’t scrub. Be gentle and slow. Wait for 15 to 20 minutes then wash off the mask. Use cold water to lock your pores
I loved this facemask. It’s definitely one of those masks you use when you want to heal your skin of spots, acne scars, rashes, etc. or when you’re limited on face mask ingredients.
Wiping off this face mask felt amazing. I used warm water and cotton wool. My skin felt smooth and silky. The rashes I was complaining about had completely disappeared. My skin looked brighter and tighter. I didn’t feel the need to moisturize my face after because the coconut oil had done that already.
Turmeric will stain your nails and hands. It has me feeling like Midas- everything I touched turned yellow.
I used Tropical Heat turmeric powder and Kentaste Coconut Oil. I have been using Kentaste Coconut Oil for my face and body and have been loving the effects. My skin always feels smooth to touch and moisturized the whole day.
Turmeric+ Coconut Oil Face Mask Tips
-Use gloves to prevent Turmeric from staining your fingernails. This spice can also stain your clothes so wear a dark shirt during application.
-The mask is very thin so expect some spilling onto your clothes.
-You can use lemon juice to clean off turmeric stains on your nails. Several washes will also ensure you get rid of the yellowing.
I am impressed with my new-found natural glow. I’d recommend this facemask to anyone who wants to brighten dark skin, fade scars or rashes. This turmeric coconut oil mask could easily be my go-to beauty option when I want to brighten my skin. Have you tried this face mask before? I’d love to hear your experience in the comments below!
