Bananas are highly underrated when it comes to natural skin care. Unknown to many, bananas pack some amazing skin ingredients which I highlighted in How To Make A Banana FacemaskThey’re packed with vital vitamins and nutrients that make it a beauty giant. Bananas protect our skin from free radicals therefore delaying the aging process. They help get rid of dark spots and also even out rough skin.

In this facemask I added lemon juice because I wanted to add some skin brightening power as well as an effective exfoliation agent. I was not disappointed.

For this banana lightening facemask you will need the following;

-1 ripe banana (overripe is best)

-Juice of ½ a lemon

-1 tbsp. honey

Preparation

Use a fork or spoon to mash your banana until it forms a pulp. Add your lemon juice and honey and mix all the ingredients until they form a paste.

Use hot water to steam your face so as to open up your pores. Use your fingers to rub the mask onto your face. Be gentle. Take your time with this part of the process. Let the mask rest for 15 to 20 minutes as you relax. Wash the mask off with cold water and pat your face dry with a towel.

My Experience

Bananas really came through for my face! There was that eek factor while applying the mask. The motivation to see the results got me through. The mask got stuck in parts of my hair, so be sure to watch out for that.

After washing the mask off my pores looked tighter. The change is highly visible. I looked like I had just gotten a facelift. My skin felt silky smooth. I was so happy with the extra glow this mask gave me. I didn’t expect to be as happy as I was.

Lemon juice is one of my favourite mask ingredients. It contains citric acid which lightens skin and evens discolorations. More benefits of lemon juice here

Honey is also another favourite. I have used it in several facemasks and also highlighted its benefits here

A banana facemask can work just as good, but it won’t exfoliate your face. This banana lightening facemask left me quite satisfied with my fresh face look. It’s definitely going to be joining my facemask rotation list. Have you tried this banana facemask before? Please share your experience in the comments.
