For the past few weeks, every time I’ve ran my fingers through my hair, I end up leaving with a few strands of it. The hair loss has been crazy and I’ve had to take drastic measures to deal with it. The solution to thin hair, brittle or dry hair is a protein boost.

Egg yolks are the holy grail when it comes to protein. It works wonders on dry hair leaving it moisturized, strong and healthy.
For this egg yolk hair mask you will need 1 egg yolk or 2 depending on how thick your hair is. Separate your egg yolk and white and then whisk your yolk(s) in a bowl. Add 2tbsp. of olive oil and mix the two ingredients until they are uniform.
Apply the mask onto dry hair on the scalp first and then on the ends. Use a shower cap to cover your hair then leave the mask to seep in for a minimum of an hour.
Use lukewarm water to wash off the mask and then lather your hair in shampoo to get rid of the egg smell. Air dry and be ready to notice the wonderful results.
You can be sure that anything that involves egg is going to be stinky as hell. This hair mask is smelly and yes your hair will smell like egg when you rinse it off. That’s why you need to shampoo your hair after washing off the mask.
When I washed off the mask, I felt that my hair was lighter and also looked darker. I didn’t expect instant results, but 2-3 days after this process I noticed that wasn’t losing as much hair as I was before application.
This hair mask definitely had a major impact on my hair. To be honest, I was scared of what would come of it because I’ve never used DIY hair masks on my dreadlocks. I am definitely now more open to trying out more natural hair treatments for my hair.
I used 2 egg yolks for my hair together with Pietro Coricelli Extra Virgin Olive Oil. This olive oil gives me the guarantee that I am using genuine olive oil in its purest state. A good olive oil should have a deep green colour and feel light to touch. The deeper the colour, the more flavour it has in it. It should also be packaged in a dark green glass.

Egg Yolk & Olive Oil Hair Mask Tips
-I highly suggest in investing in a quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil that acts as a cooking agent, salad dressing and for hair & beauty purposes. I got mine at Ksh 440 at Tuskys.
-Egg yolk can be used as a standalone mask without the olive oil
-Make sure you using a shampoo without sulfates to wash your hair. Sulfates dry out your scalp and cause breakage.
